FitBiomics™ is a sports biotechnology company spinning out of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University. We utilize next-generation sequencing to understand what makes elite athletes unique. In particular, we're sequencing the microbiome of elite athletes to identify and isolate novel probiotic bacteria for applications in sports performance and recovery. We are purifying these novel probiotics and commercializing as ingredients to disrupt the sports nutrition market and cater to the next generation athlete.
Jonathan Scheiman, PhD
Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer
Jonathan is a research fellow at the Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of George Church. He has worked on transformative sequencing technologies and programmable cellular engineering, with publications in leading journals such as Science and Nature Methods. Having played Division I college basketball at St. John’s University and coached inner city public high school basketball, one of Jonathan’s long-term goals is to use sports as a medium to inspire the next generation of scientists.
George Church, PhD
George is a founding father of modern day genomics, having developed technology that has transformed biomedicine and synthetic biology. In particular, George’s lab pioneered technology that enabled the $1000 human genome. He is a professor of genetics at the Harvard Medical School and a founding core member of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. George has co-founded over 10 biotech companies and serves on the advisory board for over 50 more.
Co-founder & Head of Athletics
Alex is an Emmy award winning producer for Hock films and ESPN. Alex is also a former coach and head of basketball operations of St. John’s University, with expertise in athlete recruitment and international sports marketing.
Treasure is world-class marketing talent with a diverse skill set. He started The Ave Magazine in late 2003 and over the last 10 years has worked in fashion licensing, with experience working with top tier brands such as Calvin Klein, Dockers, Nautica, Reebok and Tommy Hilfiger. Treasure has a degree in new media design, and has worked as a Creative Director, athlete brand manager, and consulted on consumer wearable tech social strategy campaigns and branding for luxury home audio.
Chief Operating Officer
Vasco has a passion for positively impacting his community through entrepreneurship. His roles have included CEO of a family-owned computer software company, Executive Director for Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, and Strategy & Operations consultant at Deloitte. His business acumen and experience crosses multiple sectors including financial services, industrial manufacturing, non-profit, and government. Vasco has an MBA from University of Michigan, as well as a MA from NYU.
